Arnaldo Ricciardi in St. Moritz: Light and Reflection: Exhibition from the 5.July - 28.September 2025

Between July 5 – September 28, 2025, Galerie von Opel presents an exhibition showcasing works of the Swiss artist Arnaldo Ricciardi with the title “Light and Reflection”. Curated to match the spatial and architectural context of the gallery and the impressive Engandin mountainside, Ricciardi’s abstract works investigate colour layering, and spatial perception.

The presented works, selected from the artist’s collection, were selected to match and complement the alpine clarity and openness of the region. They reflect Ricciardi’s ongoing interest in the transformation of perception through painterly means. The exhibition focuses on the fundamental elements of painting – colour, surface, and depth – and demonstrates how Ricciardi develops a visual language that is both precise and intuitive. Through deliberate layering, transparent transitions, and finely calibrated fields of colour, he creates compositions of quiet intensity.

Ricciardi’s inclusion marks an important addition to the gallery’s program, which supports artists engaging with contemporary approaches to abstraction and materiality. Defined by its calm atmosphere, breathtaking mountain views, and architectural clarity – the gallery allows for the works to unfold with particular resonance.

This exhibition invites viewers to pause and consider how light alters not only the surfaces it touches but also the way we interpret space, time, and subject. Reflection, in this sense, is both literal and metaphorical. It mirrors our environment but also evokes introspection, how we see ourselves within the luminous and shifting world we inhabit.

Through this theme, the exhibition becomes more than a visual experience, it is a meditation on the fleeting nature of vision and the enduring impact of light on the human spirit.
